This project held from April to June 2024, aimed to enhance the quality of life for elderly residents in Kok Kung Village, Ko Kaew Subdistrict, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province by promoting dementia prevention and early detection. Led by Roi Et Rajabhat University, the project targeted 30 elderly participants, 30 family caregivers, staff from the Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital, Village Health Volunteers, and project coordinators. The primary objective was to provide initial dementia screenings and to educate caregivers on effective dementia prevention methods, fostering a community that is knowledgeable and proactive in addressing dementia-related health concerns.
The project achieved significant outcomes, with over 50% of elderly community members screened for dementia and an increase in caregivers’ understanding of dementia prevention, reflected by an improvement from 71% to 82.58% in knowledge assessments. Overall, 87.5% of targeted participants engaged with the program, which received high satisfaction ratings, indicating its effectiveness and positive reception. In the long term, the project is expected to contribute to community health literacy, empowering families and communities to play an active role in elder care and dementia prevention, ultimately supporting a healthier, more aware society.
