This project held from January to March 2024, aimed to improve the well-being of elderly residents in Ban Baluang, Nong Luang Subdistrict, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province, by encouraging traditional Thai health practices. Led by Roi Et Rajabhat University’s Faculty of Nursing, the project engaged 90 elderly participants and 60 first-year nursing students. The objectives included increasing participants’ knowledge of pain management, enhancing skills in Thai traditional exercises (Maniwat), herbal balm preparation, and therapeutic massage techniques for self-care and pain relief.
The project outcomes were highly successful, with all participants showing improved pain management knowledge and 100% proficiency in Maniwat exercises, herbal balm preparation, and therapeutic massage. Satisfaction levels were rated at an excellent average of 4.88, with many participants reporting significant reductions in pain levels after the program. The project fostered a sense of community pride and unity, promoting Thai cultural practices for health and well-being, and empowered participants with sustainable self-care methods to support long-term health.
